GRANITE CITY, Ill. (AP) – Authorities say a 54-year-old man has died after being crushed at a southwestern Illinois steel foundry.
Federal safety regulators say Roy Evans of Carrolton was crushed Thursday by a stack of skids, which are 2,000-pound metal frames. The accident occurred at American Steel Foundry in Granite City, east of St. Louis. Evans died later at a hospital.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating. An autopsy was planned.
