Mother, 4 children killed in fire at suburban Chicago home

DES PLAINES, Ill. (AP) – A mother and her four daughters were killed in a fire that swept through their apartment in the Chicago suburb of Des Plaines. The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified the victims as six-year-old Renata Espinosa, five-year-old  Genesis Espinosa, three-year-old Allizon Espinosa, 1-year-old Grace Espinosa and their mother, 25-year-old Citahaly Zamiodo. The father of the children wasn’t at home at the time of the blaze. Des Plaines Fire Chief Daniel Anderson the fire broke out shortly before 11 a.m. Wednesday at a duplex. The cause of the blaze hasn’t been determined. Anderson says a firefighter was injured while battling the blaze, but didn’t require hospitalization.
