Former Silver Streak pitcher Kyle Hunter joined us today on the WGIL Morning News. Kyle is in Arizona, awaiting his assignment by the Seattle Mariners to start the new season, after missing the opening days due to a groin injury suffered in spring training.
The Galesburg Silver Streaks baseball team is looking to snap a 2-game losing skid as they play this afternoon at Bartonville Limestone. Coach Arnie Gonzalez’ Silver Streaks had won four straight prior to losing a pair of games on Saturday.
HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER
The Galesburg Silver Streaks Girls Soccer team shut out Canton Saturday at home 2-0. Goals were scored by Kayla Butler at the 34th minute of the first half, and Makayla McGee in the 65th minute of the second half.
Another round of semifinal games are scheduled for tonight at the area boy’s regional basketball tournaments. In Abingdon, the homestanding A-Town Tornadoes will play the Galva Wildcats in the late game.
Regional tournament play continues tonight around the area in boys high school basketball. At Abingdon, the host A-Town Tornados will meet Bushnell-Prairie City in the first of two games tonight.
It’s the end of the road for the Galesburg Silver Streaks girls basketball team tonight, as they’ll play their regular season finale at United Township. The Streaks enter the game with a record of 16-13 overall, and 4-5 in Western Big 6 Conference play.
Knox and Monmouth will meet for the second and final time this season in college basketball tonight. The Fighting Scots won the first matchups in men’s and women’s play, and will be looking for a season sweep on their homecourt.
