Interview: J.C. Wise

JC Wise

J.C. Wise is an Oneida native and R.O.V.A. High School graduate.  He is currently the head golf coach at Woodstock North High School and just finished a major triathlon to boot.

It’s been a productive and busy summer for a former local resident. J.C. Wise was recently inducted into the Illinois Coaches Association Golf  Hall of Fame. He has also competed in numerous road races and triathlons, including the New York City Triathlon. J.C. also started an online fitness group known as the “Kinda Fit Club”, which has motivated numerous members to not only exercise but even compete in road races and triathlons. We had a chance to chat with J.C. on the WGIL Morning News.

Run Galesburg Run returns to Galesburg for it’s 3rd year on Sunday, June 1st.

If you love to run, if you’re a novice or you just want to have some fun, Run Galesburg Run is an event for all skill levels. The event returns for a second year on Sunday, June 1st. You can participate in the Cottage Hospital Half Marathon, the Dave’s Auto Body/Go Outside and Play 5K or the Dave’s Gator Run, a 1 mile fun walk/run. Race organizers Dave Dunn and Nick Pigg joined us on the WGIL Morning News  to talk about the event.

Karen Brophy has run the Boston Marathon & is preparing for the New York City Marathon.

Today is Boston Marathon Day, one year after the tragic bombings. We talked with Galesburg native Karen Brophy about her experience running in Boston on the WGIL Morning News. Karen is foregoing the Boston race this year and is currently in training for the New York City Marathon. Included in her training will be a half marathon in Des Moines next weekend. She may return to Boston next year.
