Another candidate has emerged in the 2020 race for Illinois’ 93rd District state house seat.

Rushville business owner Scott Stoll announced his candidacy Saturday at a pizzeria in Rushville Saturday.

Stoll is currently the Chief Operating Officer of the local, independent Moreland and Devitt Pharmacy, which provides health care services to residents of Brown, Cass and Schuyler Counties.

Incumbent Republican Rep. Norine Hammond announced her intention to run for a 5th term just this week.

Although his campaign announcement nor his website mentions explicitly what party Stoll is affiliated with, pictures on social media with him and Lt. Gov. Juliana Stratton and former State Representative candidate John Curtis indicates he will run as a Democrat.

If that’s the case then Stoll will face off with Emiliano Vera of Bushnell in the Democratic primary.

Stoll says he has a “proven record of investing in infrastructure developments, small businesses and fighting for our small-town values” as a Rushville City Council member.

Stoll has lived in Rushville for about ten years with his wife and three daughters.
