CHICAGO (AP) — The Illinois Department of Employment Security says the state’s unemployment rate was 8.7 percent in January, down from the previous month’s revised rate of 8.9 percent.
The unemployment rate increased again in Knox County, albeit by a negligible amount, according to the latest figures from the Illinois Department of Employment Security.
Non-seasonally adjusted data showed unemployment of 8.7 percent in December for the County – higher than the 8.6-percent unemployment reported for the same period last year.
According to a press release, Illinois added jobs in four metro areas for the month of December.
