Violence, protests, arrival of agents put Chicago on edge

CHICAGO (AP) – The nation’s third-largest city is on edge amid a surge in gun violence and protests sparked by the death of George Floyd. Now Chicago is also awaiting possible greater tension in the form of a plan by President Donald Trump to dispatch dozens of federal agents to the city. Activists say if the agents act as they did recently in Portland, Oregon, it could spark even more violence and attract the kind of agitators who attacked police during a recent downtown protest. They also worry that such a scene is just the kind of thing Trump wants as he seeks reelection.
