Flood Warnings Affect Illinois as More Rain Crosses State

PEORIA, Ill. (AP) — The National Weather Service has issued flood warnings for several rivers in Illinois as a large rain storm moves across the middle of the state.

The weather service on Thursday morning had flood warnings out for at least a half-dozen rivers in Illinois. That includes the Illinois River at Beardstown, Havana, Henry and Peoria; the Kankakee River affecting Grundy, Jasper, Lake, Newton, Porter and Will counties and the Iroquois River affecting Iroquois Jasper and Newton counties.

The Embarras (AM’-brahw) River, Little Wabash River, Mazon River, Spoon River and Vermilion River.

The weather service also has a flash flood warning in effect in the Champaign area.

Flood watches and advisories sweep from the Mississippi River across central Illinois to the Indiana state line.
