NAPERVILLE, Ill. (AP) — Patients with liver diseases in Chicago’s western suburbs have more convenient access to care through a new clinic in Naperville named for Walter Payton.
The (Arlington Heights) Daily Herald reports the clinic’s opening was announced Tuesday by Payton’s widow, Connie Payton.
The new clinic at the Edward Hospital Cancer Center in Naperville is associated with the Walter Payton Liver Center at University of Illinois Hospital in Chicago.
NFL Hall of Fame running back and Chicago Bears star Walter Payton died of a rare liver disease in 1999.
Connie Payton calls the new project “a great partnership.”
Patients visiting the Naperville clinic will get care from Dr. Sean Koppe, director of hepatology for the University of Illinois health system.
