CHICAGO (AP) — City officials say about 1.4 million people attended this year’s five-day Taste of Chicago.
That’s up from last year when 1.1 million attended but the annual food festival lost a day because of bad weather. And it’s down from 2013 when 1.5 million people attended. As many as 3.5 million attended the fest when it was ten days long in 2008 and had Stevie Wonder as a headliner.
This year’s festival had 60 food vendors offering 200 items along with concerts from acts like Weezer, Erykah Badu, Spoon and The Chieftains.
Revenues for this year weren’t immediately available. The Chicago Tribune reports the fest cost the city about $170,000 last year. The city made $272,000 in 2013 but lost $1.3 million in 2012.
