A new boutique will be opening up on Seminary Street this August that will bring Galesburg residents an opportunity to purchase unique art work.Rivet Boutique will be selling vintage items and vintage-like artwork from herself and other artists with similar work.
Owner Hilary Anderson says originally she wanted a studio space for her artwork, but decided to use the store front space to sell her art and create a gallery.
Anderson tells WGIL that she decided to include vintage items because they relate to her work of combining items she found to create art.
“I thought, well, I could sell vintage things as well, my family has been collecting interesting objects as long as I can remember and it relates to my work because I use found metals and found materials and kind of collage materials together, rivet them together, to make new pieces,” says Anderson. “So I thought, why not bring in these older vintage items that are just interesting as they are, they kind of tell a story, they have a history.”
Anderson says Rivet Boutique is planning to open on August 1st at 66 North Seminary Street and may be holding a joint opening with GLoBar.
