The rookie grew up in nearby Middletown, Ohio, and attended Reds games at Great American Ball Park, hoping to play there one day. He finally got his chance during the All-Star Futures Game on July 12 and won the MVP with a two-run triple.
He was called up last week when catcher Miguel Montero sprained his left thumb and went on the 15-day disabled list.
Schwarber says it helps that he has already played a game at Great American, taking away some of the novelty.
