BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (AP) — After talk by city leaders that Bloomington may not be able to afford its three golf courses a local developer says he would buy or manage them.
Developer Jim Pearson has told a city panel that he would take on either role. The panel is looking for ways to close a projected $7 million deficit in next year’s city budget.
According to The Pantagraph in Bloomington, at least one council member has said the city may not be able to afford to run three municipal courses. Others have suggested closing at least one, Highland Park, because it operates at a loss.
Alderman Jim Fruin isn’t sure the city should be managing golf courses given its financial situation.
