DIXON, Ill. (AP) – A Dixon man jailed on drug and weapons charges has pleaded not guilty to trying to hire a fellow inmate to kill five people.
The (Dixon) Telegraph reports that 27-year-old David J. Laskowski entered the plea Monday morning in Lee County Court. Court documents show he is accused of hiring a fellow inmate to kill the five people for $5,000 apiece. He faces a solicitation charge.
Authorities say the inmate who Laskowski is accused of trying to hire told police and was given permission to wear a wire.
Laskowski is jailed in Lee County on $1 million bond. His case is next in court Aug. 13.
