CHICAGO (AP) – An Indiana man is charged with murder in the deaths of two men in Chicago two years ago.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports that 22-year-old Ricky Winfield of East Chicago, Indiana, is charged in the deaths of 22-year-old Martellis Griffis and 18-year-old William Aikens.
Police say a shooting killed Griffis and Aikens in the city’s Roseland neighborhood on Oct. 16, 2013. Authorities say Griffis died at the scene and Aikens ran to a vacant lot, where he collapsed and died.
A warrant was issued for Winfield’s arrest in May. A judge ordered him held on $1 million bond.
It wasn’t immediately clear if Winfield had an attorney. The case is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Aug. 21.
