Vintage Train StopTwo dozen vintage passenger cars rolled through Galesburg this (Monday) afternoon, making a brief stop at the Amtrak depot. A patchwork quilt of fallen flag railroads was assembled into a single train headed to Chicago from the St. Louis convention of the American Association of Private Railroad Car Owners.

The train stopped to allow the National Railroad Hall of Fame’s Julie King to disembark after her visit to the convention. Attempts to woo the organization to travel to Galesburg have been going on for a several years. Several private rail car excursions have stopped in Galesburg in recent years.

The train traveled through the Midwest the past week and headed to the weekend convention in St. Louis. The train will disband when it reaches Chicago. The AAPRCO promotes ownership of private passenger railcars.
