WAUKEGAN, Ill. (AP) — A suburban Chicago man is being held in lieu of $5 million bail on charges he used an aluminum bat to bludgeon his wife and her son to death during an argument.
Armondo Trejo Jr. of Beach Park is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of aggravated battery in the attack on his wife, 43-year-old Lailani Uy Trejo and stepson, 14-year-old Patrick K. Cruz Uy.
Authorities say the alleged attacker’s mother was struck in an arm with the bat.
Assistant State’s Attorney Joe Zeit said emergency dispatchers received a call from Lailani Uy Trejo early Sunday.
Armondo Trejo met emergency responders outside his home. While officers spoke with Trejo, his injured mother allowed investigators into the house, where they found the dead victims lying in blood.
