Fat Fish Pub is continuing its tradition of hosting talented musicians this Sunday.
Local bands The Lubricats, Walnut Groove and the Pine Street Persuaders are performing this weekend to support the Mississippi Valley Blues Society, a Davenport-based nonprofit that promotes the blues in the community.
Tom Foley has been a member of the Blues Society for the past two decades. He says the group is known in the Quad Cities area for putting on a program called Blues in the Schools, which helps introduce the power of music to local kids.
Foley tells WGIL the high quality performers aim to delight the crowd Sunday.
“This should be a lot of fun and a good way to raise a lot of money,” Foley says. “And then also, maybe just a way to have something to do on a Sunday night when there’s not too much else going on in Galesburg.”
He says he recently heard some of the talent at Fat Fish.
“Yeah, I just saw Mike Zito there, this guys who’s a great national act, with his full band,” Foley says. “And actually, that’s when Walnut Groove warmed up.”
As he explained, Fat Fish regularly draws great performers.
Tickets for the Sunday show are $5. All proceeds go to the Mississippi Valley Blues Society. Showtime starts at 4 p.m. and the kitchen will be open.
A Fender Jazzmaster guitar will be raffled off during the performance.
