
Ruth Lorraine Robinson, 87, of Knoxville, Illinois, formerly of Galesburg, died at 11:27 P.M. Saturday, January 2, 2016 at the Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville, Illinois.
Ruth was born on December 18, 1928 in Galesburg, Illinois, the daughter of Roy and Anna Nelson Mansfield. She married Donald Robinson on March 17, 1951 in Knoxville, Illinois.
She was raised in Knoxville graduated from Knoxville High School in 1947. She then attended Augustana Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago, Illinois, graduating with the class of 1950.
She worked as an R.N. in Chicago, the County Hospital in San Luis Obispo in California, and in Galesburg at the Galesburg Clinic and Marigold Healthcare Center.
She volunteered with the Red Cross in Galesburg, Illinois.
Ruth was a kind and loving person and found great joy in many simple pleasures in life. She loved cards, bingo, birthday parties, and going out to eat with family and friends. She will be dearly missed.
Ruth is survived by her daughter Ann E. Moore of Galesburg, Illinois; one granddaughter, Michelle D. Moore of Henderson, Nevada; a brother, Earl Mansfield of Glenview, Illinois; a sister Eileen Mansfield of Galesburg, Illinois. Also surviving are three nephews, Kevin Mansfield of Galesburg, Illinois, Mike Mansfield of Montana, and Daniel Mansfield of California; a niece, Kris (Steve) Markham Russell of Ft. Madison, Iowa; and two great nephews, Ryne and Conor Russell of Missouri.
Ruth and her dear friend from childhood, Joyce Parkinson, have remained close their entire lives, no matter the miles between them.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and Laverne Markham. Her beloved cat, Boo passed away in 2012, after giving her great joy for 19 years.
Cremation rites will be accorded and a private family graveside service will take place on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at the Knoxville Cemetery. Rev. Michel Clark will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Knox County Nursing Home transportation fund.
