WHEATON, Ill. (AP) — A 55-year-old Wilmington woman has pleaded guilty to stealing more than $500,000 from the Naperville law firm where she worked over six years.
DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin says Le Anna Kelty pleaded guilty to one count of theft on Friday before Judge Robert Miller.
Officials say Kelty worked in the law firm’s accounting department. From November 2006 to February 2013, she forged her employers’ signatures several times and deposited unauthorized checks from the firm to her personal bank accounts.
A year after Kelty left the firm an audit confirmed discrepancies in the books that employees had discovered.
Kelty faces a prison term of four to 15 years. She is scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 16.
