QUINCY, Ill. (AP) — The fourth day of a trial for a former Illinois prosecutor accused of killing his wife on Valentine’s Day in 2006 has focused on a two-hour videotaped interrogation.
Curtis Lovelace is a former Adams County prosecutor and University of Illinois football player. He has pleaded not guilty in Cory Lovelace’s death.
The (Quincy) Herald-Whig reports Curtis Lovelace was asked 13 times during the Aug. 27, 2014 interrogation if he’d used a pillow to smother his wife. He said he didn’t. Detectives took turns asking questions about the day the 38-year-old woman was found dead.
An initial autopsy was inconclusive, but subsequent tests and photographic evidence showed the mother of four died from suffocation.
Others who took the stand included Quincy police officer Jeff Baird, neighbors and a family friend.
