The GHS Silver Streaks Girls lost to the Rock Island Rocks tonight 49-35. This was the final regular season game and leaves the Streaks sitting at a 28-3 overall record and 8-2 in the Western Big 6 while Rock Island is now 26-3 overall for the season and 10-0 in the Conference. That record gives the Rocks the Western Big 6 title for the 5th season in a row. The Silver Streaks fought hard throughout the game but were always trailing just behind Rock Island for the duration of the game. Our Dave’s Autobody Crunch Time Player of the Game was Lexi Daniels. She put up 12 points in the game and also had 4 rebounds. Her 12 points were comprised all of 3-point shots that she made. She got the first points in the game for the Streaks with one and then continued to hit one in each quarter. For the Rocks, they had freshman Bre Beal come away with 22 points in the game.
The Streaks will be playing again next on Tuesday from Dunlap in the regionals with an opponent still to be determined. That opponent will be either Mendota or Chillicothe IVC depending on who wins the regional opener on Monday night. Tuesday’s game will have 5:40pm pre-game and 6pm tip off. You can catch all the action with a live play by play from Tom Meredith and Erik Gibson on 93.7FM and 1400AM WGIL, WGIL.com, or on TuneIn.
