Richard L. “Dick” Dennis, 85, of Oneida, IL died at 1:17 A.M. on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at his home in Oneida, IL.
He was born on June 27, 1930 in Beardstown, IL the son of Ancil and Elsie Louise Sullins Dennis. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1948. He married Virginia M. Cunningham on April 24, 1948 in Burlington, IA.
Surviving is his wife, Virginia Dennis of Oneida, Illinois; his children: Suzie (Jeff) Chase of Aurora, IL, Tom (Mary) Dennis of Woodhull, IL, Sandy Johnson of Oneida, IL, Terry (Lola) Dennis of East Galesburg, IL, and Tim (Julie) Dennis of Foxtown, Oneida, IL; grandchildren, Aaron, Zacory, Aimee Chase; Mike and Sarah Dennis; Jimmy and Billy Johnson, Doug Dennis, Tera Rothzen, Brandy Walters, Troy Dennis; step-grandchildren, Crystal Brewer and Rebecca Presley; 23 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; one brother, David (Beckey) Dennis of Oquawka, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one grandson, Steven.
He was a member of the Teamsters Union. He worked as a mechanic for many years for the Knox County Highway Dept., Dohrn Transfer, Tiger International and also restored antique furniture in Oneida, Illinois.
Private Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at the Oneida Cemetery, Oneida, IL. Rev. David Pyell will Officiated. Interment will be in the Oneida Cemetery, Oneida, IL.
