Richard G. “Dick” Knott, 79, of Wataga, died at 4:11 p.m. Thursday, December 21, 2017 in OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.He was born October 11, 1938, in Maquon, the son of George W. and Maxine E. (Wheeler) Knott. He married Constance Marshall on January 10, 1987, in Galesburg.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Connie; a daughter, Tracey (Adam) Marrow of Galesburg; a step-daughter, Jenifer (Jason) Sharp of Wataga; five grandchildren, Jacob Havens and Jordan, Adam, Jaxon, and Clara Sharp; a sister, Jo Ann Moore of Galesburg; a sister-in-law, Mickie Knott of Galesburg; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bill Knott; and a sister, Norma Knott.

Dick worked in the paint shop at Maytag for 32 years, retiring in 1993.   He attended Knoxville High School.   He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed reading his Bible daily. Dick loved gardening and he enjoyed feeding the birds. He was a long-time fan of NASCAR, enjoying watching Richard Petty and Bill Elliott. Dick was a tissue donor.

Dick was a veteran of the United States Army Reserve.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Cremation will be accorded following the visitation with burial later in Wataga Cemetery. A celebration of Dick’s life will continue after the visitation at the Wataga Town Hall.   Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
