Recap by Brad Bennewitz:
“Things started off well enough for the Galesburg High School Boy’s Basketball team in the opener of the Martin Luther King Tournament as Galesburg began the game with a 7-2 lead over Rockford East. Rockford then scored 8 in a row, finished off the first quarter on a 10-0 run, and led by 15 at halftime. They went on to an 82-58 win over the Galesburg High School Boys. Rockford East won for the 7th time in their last 8 games as they improve to 9-6 on the season, coming off the consolation championship at the Collinsville Holiday Tournament. Rockford East had 4 players in double figures while Galesburg only had one – Andrew Anderson with 12 points. Nick Fields was our Dave’s Auto Body Crunch Time Player of the Game. He provided a lot of energy off the bench in the 2nd quarter as the Streaks were trying to hang in to the game and had a pretty good 3rd quarter as well with a varsity career high of 9 points, but it just wasn’t enough as the Silver Streaks drop to 12-4 on the season and 0-1 in the Martin Luther King Tournament. The GHS sophomores won their game with a final score of 62-54. The Galesburg Boys’ next action will be at the St. Joseph Ogden shootout coming up Saturday in the Champaign area, and they’ll take on #6 ranked Danville in class 4A.”
