Mrs. Bette L. Pepmeyer, 95, of Galesburg, Illinois died 11:46 a.m. Thursday, January 4, 2018 at the Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville, Illinois.She was born July 9, 1922 in Burlington, Iowa to John and Anna G. Thomas Brust. She married Glen H. Pepmeyer April 2, 1949 in St. Louis, Missouri. He preceded her in death October 18, 2010.

Surviving are two sons, John (and Laura) Pepmeyer and Tom (and Cindy) Pepmeyer both of Galesburg, five grandchildren, Scott T. Pepmeyer, Douglas R. Pepmeyer, John T. Pepmeyer, Jr., Lauren M (and Alex) Humes and Lindsay E. Fisher, two great grandchildren, Maxwell Reese and Bryant Humes and three nieces, Rebecca Lessard of Galesburg, Beth Hollingsworth of Galesburg and Robin Danielson of Kewanee, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Marian Sheldon and Loraine Danielson and a great grandson, Camden Humes.

Bette graduated from Burlington High School in 1939 where she was her class president. She graduated from Burlington Junior College. She worked for the Iowa Ordinance Plant during WWII. She later owned and operated with her husband the Galesburg Plating Company for over 15 years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Galesburg and was an Elder and Deacon for the church. She was one of the original founding members of Amondata Sorority. She enjoyed playing Bridge and was a member of local Bridge Clubs. She previously served as the president of the P.T.A. in Galesburg. She and her husband, Glen loved dancing to the sounds of the big band music of the 30’s and 40’s. What meant the most to Bette is her love for her family and her church.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 8, 2018 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Shawn Smith will officiate.   Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 8, 2018 at the chapel.   Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
