The Galesburg Silver Streaks picked up a win Monday afternoon over the Bloomington Purple Raiders 47-43 in the Martin Luther King Tournament.

The Streaks’ first quarter wasn’t very good, as they trailed 10-6 at the end of it.  Then, they came out in the second quarter and played much better, leading 18-12 at halftime.  Both teams were even in the third quarter.

Then, in the fourth quarter, Bloomington made a furious comeback not only tying the game up.  That later turned to four lead changes, but the Streaks were able to come through.

Kelsi Legge went to the free throw line eight times in the fourth quarter, making seven of those shots.  She was the Dave’s Autobody Crunch Time Player of the Game.  Andrea Sampson led the Streaks with 14 points, including four three-pointers.  Yvonne Mixon had another double-double for the Streaks — 13 points and 11 rebounds.  Galeburg out-rebounded Bloomington 39-26.

The Streaks are now 11-11 on the season, with Bloomington dropping to 10-10.
