Josefina C. Tolentino, 89, of Galesburg, died at 2:01 a.m. Saturday, January 20, 2018 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.She was born April 10, 1928, in Manila, Philippines, the daughter of Facundo and Juana (Costales) Tolentino. She had been married to Lonnie Stewart for over 20 years.
She is survived by a brother, Jacinto C. (Dolores) Tolentino of Peoria; several nieces and nephews; and family friends, Lee Gania and Ron Wicks of Galesburg and Neneth Stein and Craig Woolman of Berwick. She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Ernesto, Romeo, Alberto, and Antonio.
Josefina graduated from the University of the Philippines and received her specialty medical training at McGill University in Canada. She was a psychiatrist, working at the Galesburg State Research Hospital for many years and then Zeller Mental Health Center in Peoria before retiring.
She enjoyed traveling, reading, crossword puzzles, collecting antiques, attending social gatherings, and Filipino cuisine.
