
Eveline Marie Poland, of rural Knoxville, crossed over to eternal life on January 29, 2018 at the age of 101 at the Knox County Nursing Home.A visitation to celebrate Eveline’s life will be held on Saturday, February 3rd, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in Knoxville. Private burial will be held at a later date at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
Eveline was born on November 14, 1916, in rural Maquon, Illinois to Jacob and Effie (Erichsen) Housh. She attended Sumner Herman Grade School and graduated from Galesburg High School in 1934. Upon graduation from Western Illinois University, she taught at Lillian F. Taylor School in Galesburg. Eveline married Harold W. Poland on March 28, 1937 and retired after 12 years of service to the Knoxville PEO Home.
She is now reunited with her parents, brother and sister, husband and two great grandsons. Those left to forever honor Eveline’s memory are her son, H. Wayne (Kathy) Poland, Galesburg; daughter, Bonnie Brown, Gilson; three grandchildren, Brad (Jan) Poland, Monroe, IA; Joanne Kincaid, Brashear, MO; Lori (Patrick) Martindale, Des Moines, Iowa; and 5 great grandchildren: Ashley, Celia, Connor, Hunter and Tanner and her beloved cat, Mr. Kitty.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Orange Chapel Church or Galesburg Rescue Mission.
