Galesburg Silver Streaks Post-Season Boys Basketball vs IVC Grey Ghosts

Recap by Brad Bennewitz,

“The Galesburg boys basketball team advanced to the class 3A Regional final at Dunlap on Friday by virtue of a 69-52 win over IVC Tuesday night. May sound like an easy victory by winning by 17 points but it was anything but even with the Silver Streaks not trailing the entire game in fact the only time the streaks didn’t lead in the game was it 3-3 in the first quarter. But IVC rallied back from as much as a 21-point deficit in the second half and cut the deficit to 9 late in the fourth quarter with just over two and a half minutes left before Cornell Dotson hit a key 3-pointer, stole the inbound from IVC coming out of a timeout, and had a couple of more big defensive stops down the stretch to earn our Dave’s Auto Body Crunch Time Player of the Game. Dotson finished with 18 point. Khalil Hodge was the leading scorer for the streaks with 20, he had four 3-pointers in the first half and then knockdown 8 of 10 free throws in the second half. The Streaks 22nd victory of the season is also Mike Reynolds 200th career coaching victory in his 10 seasons at Galesburg High School so congratulations to Coach Reynolds. The Streaks will go for number 201 for him and 23 on the season Friday night in the 3A Regional final against the winner of Wednesday night’s game between Sterling and host Dunlap. Brad Bennewitz WGIL sports.”
