
Mr. Richard E. “Dick” Stremmel, 70, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 2:00 pm Monday, February 26, 2018 at his home.He was born June 18, 1947 in Macomb, Illinois, the son of Clair H. and Francis J. Miner Stremmel.
Dick is survived by his daughter, Deanne Engelbrecht of Coal Valley, Illinois; his brother, Norm Stremmel of Galesburg; his sister, Debbie (Steve) Rodriguez of Galesburg; his sister-in-law, Jan Stremmel of East Galesburg, Illinois; his former son-in-law that he treated more like a son, Rick Engelbrecht of Peoria and his grandson, Josh Engelbrecht of California. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Pam Schultz, his sister-in-law, Doris Stremmel and two brothers Jim and Ronnie Stremmel.
He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1965, then served in the United States Army in Germany from 1966-1968. He worked for Rowe Manufacturing, and Gale Products. He then owned and operated Stremmel Standard in Galesburg for 11 years, and later worked for Lovell’s Automotive Service for 15 years.
He was a member of the Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post #285, and enjoyed riding motorcycles.
Funeral services will be 1:30 pm Friday, March 2, 2018 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. James Ecklund will officiate. Military Rites will be conducted by VFW 2257/Legion 285 Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 pm Thursday evening at the chapel. Burial will be in Warren County Hope Cemetery.
