
Francis R. “Frank” Haptonstall, 80, of Galesburg, died at 6:55 p.m. Tuesday, January 30, 2018 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.He was born June 16, 1937, in La Fayette, the son of Carl and Marie (Cox) Haptonstall. He married Dora Dean Brazee in 1969. She preceded him in death. He later married Janis Embry on June 7, 1986 at Calvary Assembly of God Church in Galesburg. She preceded him in death on March 22, 2015.
He is survived by a daughter, Rachel Raymond (fiancée Jeffery Weiss) of Paw Paw; two sons, Joe (Darlene) Raymond of Des Moines, Iowa and Gary Yelm of Alexandria, Louisiana; six grandchildren; one great granddaughter with another expected in April; a brother, Michael E. (Nancy) Haptonstall of Kewanee; and three sisters, Loretta Reynolds of Monmouth, Sherry Bradshaw, and Sheryl Haptonstall of Sycamore. In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jeffery Raymond; three brothers and two sisters.
Frank worked in maintenance with George Swing for many years. Later, he and Janis “team drove” together for 21 years, mostly with DCM Transport. They retired in June of 2008. Frank was a former member of Calvary Assembly of God Church and was currently attending First Church of the Open Bible.
Frank served in the United States Army for six years, stationed in El Paso, Texas.
Cremation was accorded. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2018 at First Church of the Open Bible. Memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Mark Dexter officiating. Frank and Janis will be buried together in Victoria Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Frank’s name may be made to the Defenders of Freedom Veterans Home.
