Roberta Ruth “Becky” Kuster, 89, of Galva, died at 5:23 p.m., Monday, March 12, 2018 at her home surrounded by family.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 16 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Rev. Karen Martin will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Galva Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the GYSA (Galva Youth Sports Association.)
She was born September 29, 1928 in Magnolia, IL, the daughter of George and Erma (McCambridge) Hauger. She married Francis Peterson and then later married John H. Kuster on May 13, 1960. He preceded her in death on October 25, 2006. Survivors include her children, Kenneth Peterson (Bonnie Rogers) of Galva, Susan (Alan) Kitterman of LaMoille, IL, Rose Mulder and her friend, Larry of Kewanee, Sandra (Tom) Brock of Cambridge, Jeanie Kuster and Cynthia (Donald) Collinson, both of Galva and Linnea (Doug) Meadows of Abingdon, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a son, Louis Peterson, nine brothers and five sisters.
Becky was a hard-working farm wife and mother. She was a 50+ year member of the Rebekah Lodge in which she held many offices. She enjoyed quilting, reading, coaching softball, baking, catering and especially making wedding cakes. For many years she was a member of the State Road Community Church and later became a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She touched many lives and will be missed by all.
