
Reba Louise Cook, 87 of Galesburg and formerly of Abingdon, passed away at 12:08 a.m. Sunday, April 22, 2018 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.She was born December 24, 1930 in Rio, Illinois, the daughter of Judson W. and Cora Mae (Hook) Hickerson.
Reba is survived by her five children, Linda L. Jones Zefo of Galesburg, Patty J Jones Zepeda of Abingdon, Billie D. Jones of Galesburg, Lisa G. Robinson of rural Galesburg and Rhonda M. Cook of Galesburg; her eight grandchildren, Scott, Nick, Jacqueline, Missy, Jonny, Tyler, Trenton and Lakin; her fourteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harold Hickerson of rural Galesburg, Maurice Hickerson of Avon; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister, Jaunita, six brothers, Monroe, Houston, Logan, Dick, Floyd and Richard, and one great-granddaughter, Jalyssa.
As a young lady, Reba worked as a cook and waitress at the Friendly Café and Abbe Lanes in Abingdon. She later worked at Admiral/Maytag for over 20 years. She attended the Abingdon United Methodist Church. During her life, she took care of her parents, her brother Richard, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also a caregiver to countless others in Abingdon and the surrounding areas. She enjoyed dancing, going to the boat and watching television shows with her family. Her greatest love was her family, whom she loved unconditionally. She will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, April 26, 2018 at the Abingdon United Methodist Church followed by her funeral service at 11 a.m. Rev. Nancy Wilson will officiate. Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
