Donald L. “Donny” Motz, age 81, of rural Galesburg, Illinois died at 9:05 P.M. on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at his home in rural Galesburg, Illinois surrounded by his family.Donny was born on May 8, 1937 in Galesburg, Illinois the son of Walter J. and Mildred (Peterson) Motz. He was reared and educated in Wataga, Illinois. He married Alvaree D. Dutton on November 30, 1956 in Galesburg, Illinois. She preceded him in death on June 2, 2016.

Surviving are five children; Daniel (Lisa) Motz of Galesburg, Illinois, Rodney Motz of Galesburg, Illinois, Linda Sue (Jack) Swanson of Glasford, Illinois, Donald (Toni) Motz of Wataga, Illinois, and Jason (Jackie) Motz of Gilson, Illinois; seven grandchildren: Travis, Corie, Mallory, Colton, Jalyn, Jenna, and Jack Jr.; five great-grandchildren; one brother: Charles Motz; two sisters: Barb (Jerry) Lester an Sandy (Larry) Lovitt; special niece Marsha Jackson of Galesburg, Illinois and special nephew Frank Dutton Jr. of Wataga, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his wife, two brothers, William Motz, and Johnny Joe Motz, and his dog.

Donny worked at the former Gale Products in Galesburg, Illinois and then, Carlson Trucking. He owned and operated D & L Salvage in rural Galesburg, Illinois. Early in his working years, he also dug graves in Knoxville, Gilson and Maquon. He enjoyed hot rods, old cars and going to car shows.

Graveside services will be held for Alvaree and Donald at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, June 1, 2018 at the Wataga Cemetery, Wataga, Illinois. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at Motzy’s Bar in Wataga, Illinois following the services Memorial contributions may be made to OSF Hospice.
