Mrs. Heather Ann Diefendorf, 34, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 2:32 pm Thursday, May 31, 2018 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.Heather was born November 9, 1983 in Galesburg, the daughter of Mark Poulson. She married Samuel D. Diefendorf on July 31, 2007 in Galesburg.
She is survived by her husband, Sam of Galesburg; her father, Mark Poulson of Galesburg; her grandparents, Dave and Jeanette Poulson of Galesburg who helped raise her; her daughter, Lillian Jeanette Diefendorf at home; her son, Samuel D. Diefendorf II at home; her in-laws, Rhonda Sturgeon and Dave and Jodi Diefendorf all of Galesburg; two sisters-in-law, Tamara Diefendorf of Galesburg and Madisyn Gottenborg of California and a brother-in-law, Caleb Diefendorf of Galesburg and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father-in-law, Dave Sturgeon.
Heather graduated from Abingdon High school in 2002. She received her Associates degree from Carl Sandburg College in 2004. She received her Bachelor’s degree in English at Western Illinois University in 2007 and was inducted into the Golden Key International Honour Society. She worked in data entry at Bridgeway before working at Target. Heather was a member of First Lutheran Church. She was a volunteer with the Girls Scouts. She had a special place in her heart for animals. Heather loved her children and was active in all of their activities. Heather had a love for music and was proficient with most musical instruments. She was an avid reader. Heather is giving the greatest gift to so many people, by donating her organs through Gift of Hope.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:30 am Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Pamela Marolla will officiate. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 pm Friday, June 8, 2018 at the chapel. Cremation will follow services. Memorials may be made to the family to establish an education fund for her children.
