Ada May Galbreath, 94, of Smithshire, IL, passed away at 4:45 a.m., Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at the Henderson County Retirement Center, Stronghurst, IL.    She was born January 29, 1924 in Monmouth, IL the daughter of John Edward and Mary Jane (Lusk) Conard. She was raised and educated in rural Kirkwood Schools and attended Kirkwood High School.

Ada married L. Keith Galbreath in Kahoka, MO on January 24, 1942 and he passed away December 12, 2005.

Ada started working for Formfit and later Formfit-Rogers and finally for Smolers in Monmouth as a seamstress, supervisor and shipping clerk from 1949 until she retired in 1979.

She was a lifelong member of the Kirkwood United Methodist Church. Following her retirement she began to volunteer at the auxiliary at the Monmouth Hospital where she received recognition from OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth for over 10,500 hour of “Loyal and Conscientious Service”. She received and was awarded by the Monmouth Rotary Club and Rotary International the Paul Harris Fellow Award in 2011 in appreciation of her years of volunteer service.

She enjoyed sewing, gardening and loved mowing her large yard.

Survivors include her three sons, Ronald (Teddi) Galbreath of Monmouth, Joseph Galbreath of Sterling, IL and David Galbreath of Paris, IL; six grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Eddie Conard and her sister, Jean Lewis.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 10, 2018 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. Interment will be in Ellison Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.   Memorials may be given to the Kirkwood Senior Citizen Center.
