Mrs. Lula Marie Hopping, 91, went to be with her husband, David, October 22, 2018. Passing away peacefully at her home.Lula was born march 31, 1927 to Mr. Royal and Izola (Middleton) Campbell in Stuart, Iowa. She married David Hopping March 10, 1946 in Missouri. After 71 years of marriage, David Passed away December 31, 2016.
She is survived by her sister Betty (Rey) Samundson of Batavia, Illinois; one brother-in-law Kenneth Swanson; and her children Bruce Hopping of Galesburg, Judy (Warren) Davies of Knoxville, and Dale (Suzie) Hopping of Galesburg. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Lula was best known for her love of children. She helped babysit numerous grandbabies and children belonging to some of her closest relatives. Lula was loved by all who knew her—her yard was always full of beautiful flowers and in her spare time she could be found working on a word search or picture puzzle.
She will be missed as the matriarch of our family and by all those that came across her path. Rest in Peace and tell dad we say “Hello!”
Graveside services for Lula and David are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 26, 2018 at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Cremation has been accorded. Memorials may be made to the family of David and Lula Hopping. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements.
