Mr. Emmanuel A. “Manny” Ogundipe, 76, of Galesburg, Illinois passed away Sunday January 13, 2019 at his home.Manny was born August 1, 1942 in Kaduna, Nigeria the son of Thomas and Esther Ande Ogundipe. He married A. Louise Durham on July 21, 1972 in Dallas, Texas. She preceded him in death on October 14, 2017.
He is survived by his mother, Esther Ogundipe of Nigeria; son, Eric A. (Jewel) Ogundipe of Dorchester, Nebraska; two brothers, Charles (Felicia) Ogundipe of Dekalb, Illinois and John (Olanike) Ogundipe of Nigeria; two sisters, Janet (Tona) Adewuyi of Nigeria and Elizabeth (Ezekiel) Sangodeji of Nigeria and two grandchildren, Danica M and Soren A. Ogundipe. Manny is preceded in death by his father and one sister, Comfort Olanike.
Manny worked for Shell Chemical Company for 14 years before owning and operating his own exporting business, Manny & Associates for 18 years. After his business dissolved, he worked for Caterpillar for 7 years, retiring in 2009. Manny graduated from Ogbomoso Grammar School in Nigeria in 1962 and received his Master’s degree in 1973 from the former East Texas State University, now Texas A & M. Manny loved spending time with his family and adored his grandchildren.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 am Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Johnnie Trammell Goodson will officiate. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 pm Friday, January 18, 2019 at the chapel. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com
