Today is election day and voters will be hitting their polling places to determine several local races.

The 2019 consolidated election is today, and voters have opportunities to cast their votes between 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

There are contested races in Ward’s one, where Bradley Hix is facing off with incumbent Angela Bastian. In Ward three, incumbent Russell Fleming faces Lindsay Hillery.

And in Ward seven, newcomers Larry Cox and Ashley Worby will determine who takes Jeremy Karlin’s seat. Karlin chose to not run for re-election.

Peter Schwartzman is the lone candidate for Ward five.

District 205 has four open seats as Jean Anne Glasnovich and Wayne Statham are choosing not to run again and Amy Pickrel resigned to take a job with the district, leaving Tianna Cervantez as the only current board member running for re-election.

In District 202, three current board members – Jeff Johnson, Tammy Myers, and Rebecca McCracken – are on the ballot to fill four open seats.

District 276 has a highly contested race, with five potential board members running for three open positions.

In the surrounding communities, voters will determine aldermen in contested races in Abingdon, the City Clerk in Knoxville, trustees for Altona and East Galesburg, as well as the mayor of East Galesburg.
