One hospitalized in weekend rollover accident

A 38-year-old man was hospitalized at OSF St. Francis Medical Center with a reported fractured skull and spleen injury after a rollover accident in Galesburg.

According to police reports, officers responded to the area of Harrison Street and Willow lane on Friday evening for the accident. The report states that around 6:24, officers arrived and located a BMW on its side and a wooden power pole to have snapped.

A group of people at the scene pointed out the injured subject to officers. The man was on his knees near the vehicle with blood found in multiple locations on his body. It also appeared that blood was coming from his ear.

He told officers he was in pain and taken to Cottage Hospital for treatment of his injuries before being transferred to Peoria later.

Witnesses also told police that a black male subject had been seen running from the scene of the accident.

The incident remains under investigation.
