CHICAGO (AP) – The developer behind a botched smokestack implosion in Chicago faces a new $2,500 fine for allowing “silty water” into the Chicago Sanity and Ship Canal. City officials say a health inspector found the runoff water recently near a shuttered power station. Last month Hilco Redevelopment Partners and a demolition contractor imploded a smokestack, blanketing the a mostly Latino neighborhood with a high number of low-income residents with dust. City officials say they’re continuing to monitor the runoff. Hilco officials didn’t immediately return a message left Sunday seeking comment.
