
A man wanted in Henry County for allegedly shooting at sheriff’s deputies with a shotgun is dead.
30-year-old Jeffery R. Blunk of Geneseo was involved in an officer-involved shooting just before noon according to a release from the Geneseo Police Department.
According to the police, officers located Blunk, armed with a shotgun, on the west side of town, in the area of US Highway 6 and Dilenbeck Drive.
For an hour and a half, officers say they negotiated with Blunk in an attempt to deescalate the situation. However, the incident resulted in a US Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force member shooting Blunk, killing him.
Blunk was wanted for Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Attempted Murder of a Police Officer, Home Invasion, Aggravated Kidnapping, and Outstanding Felony Warrants.
The shooting is under investigation by the Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigations.
