The Knox County Health Department is reporting the largest single-week jump in COVID-19 cases yet.
Yesterday, health officials reported 31 newly confirmed cases of Coronavirus Disease between Friday and Monday; adding that with Friday’s reported new cases, in the last seven days the county has seen 92 new cases.
Total cases reported in the last week include:
- 2 cases under 10
- 12 cases in the 10s
- 12 cases in the 20s
- 12 cases in the 30s
- 13 cases in the 40s
- 14 cases in the 50s
- 17 cases in the 60s
- 7 cases in the 70s
- 3 cases in the 80s
Erin Olson, Public Information Officer for the Knox County Health Department, says it is imperative that, quote, “we remain attentive and continue to mask, social distance, and not hold large gatherings, stay home if you are sick, so that we can keep our local businesses open and hang on to the normal we have right now and avoid the actions that would be necessary to combat a resurgence of COVID-19.”
The Health Department did not release updated recovery numbers but last reported on Friday, the county had 680 cases considered recovered, 48 reported to be recovering at home, and nine individuals in hospitals.
The total number of cases now reported in the County is at 777.
68.2% of all Knox County cases residing in Galesburg, 9.7% in Knoxville, 3.9% in Abingdon, 2.8% in Dahinda, 1.6% in Wataga, 1.4% in Oneida, 1.2% in Rio, 1.1% in East Galesburg, 1.1% in Williamsfield, 1% in Yates City, 1% in Henderson, .9% in Victoria, .7% in Maquon, .7% in Gilson and 3.9% in the remaining areas of the County.
