A 58-year-old Fulton County man has been arrested and charged with First Degree Murder.

As previously reported by WGIL, on Sunday at around 2:40, sheriff’s deputies and emergency responders were dispatched to 922 of East Jackson Street, Lot 2, in the town of Cuba in response to a medical emergency call involving an unresponsive female.

Attempts to resuscitate the woman failed and she was pronounced dead at the scene. The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office has identified her as 53-year-old Tammy Shoen, who resided at that address.

The suspect in the death, Gordon Griffith, also of the same address, was arrested after a preliminary investigation into Shoen’s death and taken to the Fulton County Jail.

He is being charged with murder and made an appearance in Fulton County Circuit Court on Tuesday where his bond was set at $1M.

The Fulton County Coroner contracted with a forensic pathologist to conduct the autopsy with preliminary results indicating that Shoen died of ligature strangulation. However, the sheriff’s office says the case remains under investigation and more charges may be filed.
