
Lois Jean Anderson, 90, of Springfield, Illinois, formerly of Galesburg, Illinois died of natural causes at 2:15 a.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at Lewis Memorial Nursing Home, Springfield.
She was born on October 25, 1930, in Trenton, Missouri to Rolla Thomas and Nellie Mae (Thompson) Atkinson. She married Marvin Anderson, April 15, 1951, in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on May 10, 2001.
Surviving is a daughter, Deborah (Ronald) Clark of Chatham, Illinois; four grandchildren Joshua (Jill) and Shaun (Katie) Anderson, and their mother, Christine (Steve) Morris; Heather and Brian (Neelima) Clark; and seven great-grandchildren, Carter and Sawyer Anderson; Ava and Nora Anderson; and Nivaan, Viaan, and Kaveen Clark. Also surviving are three sisters-in-law, Fran (Dave) Bost, Janet (Jerry) Swanson, and Anita Kness, and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Steven Anderson and John Anderson; and a brother, Dale Atkinson.
Lois Jean graduated from Alexis High School, Alexis, Illinois in 1949. She enjoyed baking and made cakes for all occasions, particularly wedding cakes, for over 30 years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Galesburg; and was a volunteer at Knox County Humane Society due to her love of animals.
Private graveside service will be Monday, November 2, 2020, at Hopewell Cemetery near New Windsor, Illinois. Rev. Carrie Carnes will officiate. Memorials may be made to Galesburg F.I.S.H.
