Glen W. Braden, age 92, of Galesburg, Illinois died on October 27, 2020, at 9:50 A.M. at Marigold Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Galesburg, Illinois.

Glen was born on June 22, 1928, in Kewanee, Illinois the son of Avery and Rita (Worley) Braden. He married Shirley F. Lee on June 11, 1948, in Fairbanks, Alaska. He was reared and educated in Kewanee, Illinois.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley F. Braden of Galesburg, Illinois; a daughter Sue (Steve) Peterson, Knoxville, Illinois; five grandchildren: Amber (Marc) Muscarello of Missouri City, Texas, Allison (Steve) Whitcher of Silvis, Illinois, Abby (Matt) Wiles of Galesburg, Illinois, Eric (Erica) Peterson of Omaha, Nebraska, Molly (Matt) Maaske of Knoxville, Illinois; fifteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Ellen; four brothers, Gerry, Danny, Walter, and Dean; and one son, Glen W. “Bill” Braden Jr.

He worked for the former Ross Shaver & Typewriter of Galesburg, Illinois and he owned and operated the former Braden Office Equipment in Galesburg, Illinois. He enlisted in the United States Army and served from May 4, 1948, until May 3, 1952, as a machinist, during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene of Galesburg, Illinois. He enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, and being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a CUBS and Bears fan. He enjoyed visiting Washington, D.C. with the Quad Cities Honor Flight in 2016.

Private graveside services will be held. Interment will be in the East Linwood Cemetery in Galesburg, Illinois.
