
Charlotte L. Anderson Pearson, 97, of Galesburg, died at 6:24 p.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2020, at home.
She was born July 6, 1923, in Galesburg, the daughter of Phillip Melvin and Helen M. (Ahline) Johnson. She married Harold E. Anderson on October 30, 1955, in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on September 7, 1977. She later married C. Eugene Pearson on March 17, 1987, in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on June 28, 2016.
She is survived by a son, Curtis M. (Rita) Anderson of Galesburg; five grandchildren, Christopher Rutledge, Jennifer Collinson, Michael Rutledge, Timothy Rutledge, and Phillip Anderson; six great-grandchildren, Alexia, Trevor, Tyler, Jace, Bannen, and Kennedy; and nieces and nephews.
Charlotte was a plant clerk at the former Intra State Telephone Company, where she was known as Chuck, for 38 ½ years, retiring in 1980. She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1941 and was a life-long Galesburg resident, living at the same address her entire 97 years. Both sets of Charlotte’s grandparents immigrated from Sweden to Galesburg, living near Monkeytown.
Charlotte was an active member of the Covenant Church, where she had taught Sunday school, was a member of the choir for 59 years, was a former deacon, and a member of the Covenant Women. She was a member of the Knox County Genealogical Society and a former member of the Galesburg Community Chorus. Charlotte also enjoyed participating in the senior lunches in Wataga and at O.A.K.S.
Visitation will be 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Monday, November 2, 2020, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Tom Ek officiating. Due to guidelines associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing and facemasks will be required with limited seating.
