On Sunday, November 29th, Galesburg Police were notified by the Monmouth Police Department to be on the lookout for a stolen SUV that could be in the area. That morning, Galesburg Police located the stolen Subaru Outback traveling eastbound on Monmouth Boulevard. GPD followed the vehicle preparing to make a felony traffic stop and eventually initiated the stop near the intersection of East Berrien and Day Streets. Once stopped, GPD made contact with the driver: 50-year old Timothy Walls of Galesburg, and he was placed under arrest without incident. According to police reports, after being read his rights, officers asked Walls if he wished to speak, to which he replied, “What’s there to talk about?” GPD contacted the Monmouth Police Department where they informed Galesburg officials that Walls has been involved in nine separate auto thefts from the Monmouth area since 2010. Walls was charged with Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Driving While License Revoked, and was transported to the Knox County Jail.
