SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) – There were 2.082 new confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases, including 20 new deaths, reported in Illinois by public health officials. The cases reported Tuesday were diagnosed from 55,705 tests administered in the state, placing Illinois’ seven-day positivity rate at 4%. The Illinois Department of Public Health reports more than 1.4 million doses of coronavirus vaccines have been administered in the state, including 216,522 for long-term care facilities. As of late Monday, 2,117 people were reported hospitalized in Illinois due to COVID-19. Of those, 497 patients were in intensive care units and 240 patients were on ventilators.
